For Daniel and Jay

Welcome to my blog. For those of you who don’t know me I am a 64 year old physician who over the years, beginning in undergraduate school at Wayne State University have been involved with fund raising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In college I chaired the annual Sammy Week for Leukemia (Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity) fund raiser and since 1993 have run 7 marathons to raise money for the LLS. This year I decided to take things to a new level.

On June 5, 2011 my efforts just begin with a 100 mile ride around Lake Tahoe with Team in Training.  Then the big  journey continues a few days later from San Diego where after dipping my front tire in the Pacific Ocean I will begin the solo ride across the country ending weeks later as I dip (maybe throw) my bicycle in the Atlantic Ocean at Virginia Beach. This ride will be in honor of my 2 nephews Daniel and Jay who are both survivors of Leukemia (Daniel) and Hodgkin’s (Jay), as I try to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Contributions can be made online at

or via check made out to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and sent to me.
